About
Romeo Shagba is a Winnipeg-based artist working across photography, digital montage, and painting. His figurative images use staged photography and digital montage to explore self-invention, identity, and human resilience.
Through constructed scenes and choreographed bodies, his work considers how images can perform, distort, and reimagine identity.
His practice is rooted in years of working as a fashion photographer across Nigeria and Malaysia, where he developed a sharp eye for the constructed nature of image-making and the performance of identity in front of the camera. After relocating to Canada, this awareness deepened into the more deliberate and conceptual artistic practice he pursues today.
